Jean Farwell

Jean Kinkennon Farwell, 69, of Creston died Oct. 22,2000, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be 2 p.m. Oct 25 at the Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue. The Rev. Terry Amann, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Creston, will officiate with burial in Graceland Cemetery. There is open visition noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday and the family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the congregate meal site in Creston.

Mrs. Farwell was born Feb. 1,1931, in Orient to George Ross and Effie Mae (Christ) Chadwick. She graduated from Orient High School in 1949. In February 1950 she married Leroy G. KinKennon in Creston and he died in July 1985. On Aug 30,1991, she married Raymond Allen Farwell in Creston.

She was a homemaker, bookkeeper for KinKennon Electric of Creston, managed the Greater Community Hospital coffee shop from 1986 to 1992 and worked for Southern Iowa Trolley three years, retiring in 1995. She lived in Orient before moving to Creston in 1949. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, church circles, two card clubs, Eagles Auxiliary and helped at the congregate meal site in Creston.

Survivors include husband Raymond Farwell of Creston ; daughter Sheri(husband Jerry) Moffitt of Bellevue, Neb.; son, Jim (wife Sue) Kinkennon of Papillion, Neb.; stepdaughter Donna (husband Bob Murphy) Farwell of St. Marys; three stepsons, Calvin (wife Diane) Farwell of Dallas, Texas, Larry (Wife Denise) Farwell of Corona, Calif., and Steve (wife Lynn) Farwell of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two brothers, Veral (wife Darlene) Chadwick of Williamson and Robert (wife Charlene) Chadwick of Omaha, Neb.; four sister
in-law, LaVaun (friend Bob Beaman) Wright of Stuart and Inez (husband Charles) Bennett of Lorimor; 14 grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents;a grandson; two brothers, Daryl and Clinton Chadwick; and three sisters, Viola Jones, Ruth Recoy and Melba Gile.
