Leroy Barton dies at 79

LeRoy E. Barton, 79, a retired plasterer who had lived in Creston most of his life, died at the Greater Community hospital at 4:40 a.m. today. His death followed a lengthy illness.

His body is at Coen's Home for Funerals. Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time.

Mr. Barton, who lived at 411 north Poplar street, had retired in 1967 as a plasterer.

He was born in Union county, Dec. 28, 1894. He was the son of Norman and Ida Lloyd Barton. He was married at Davenport, July 29, 1922, to Anna Cornelison.

He is survived by his widow; a son, Edward Barton in Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Retha Mae Dorsey of Greeley, Colo., and Mrs. Betty Lou Cheers of Creston; and a sister, Mrs. Iva Brolsma of Boone. Two sons, Harley and Kenneth Barton, preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Creston Eagles lodge.
