Ferne Baker, 87 of Creston died Thursday, July 9, 1987, at Crest Haven Care Center here.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church here. The Larken Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. The Rev. Bob Pickerell will officiate with burial in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Family night will be 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church.

Baker was born Aug. 13, 1899, near Shannon City, to Charles and Florence (nee Dilly) Davis. On Jan. 16, 1919, she married Elbert Henry Miller in Shannon City. He died Aug. 22, 1968. On Dec. 6, 1975 she married Willard Baker in McAllen Texas. She worked at the MATURA Corp. in Creston for six years.

Besides her husband, Willard of Creston, she is survived by two sons, Carrol (wife Lorraine) Miller of Apache Junction, Ariz. and Earl (wife Marilynn) Miller of Des Moines; a daughter, Vera (Mrs. Otis) Clements of Roundup, Mont.; three step daughters, Lois (Mrs. Cecil) Allen of Tingley, Irene (Mrs. Alvin) Tull of Shannon City and Opal (Mrs. Paul) Overholser of Treynor; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; 19 step great-grandchildren; 19 step great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale and Roy Davis of Des Moines and Rex Davis of Ankeny; and three sisters, Atha Campbell of Osceola and Rose Pence and Pauline Dougherty, both of Newton.

Besides her first husband, Elbert, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and four sisters.
