Dorothy C. Montague, 82, of Creston died July 26, 2007 at her home. Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Leonard Kenkel officiated the service. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Creston.

Dorothy Cecilia Montague, the daughter of Casper and Mae Margaretha (Kegley) Schmitz, was born on January 15, 1925, in Prairie Center Township near Kearney, Nebraska. Dorothy graduated from Pleasonton High School in Nebraska with the class of 1942. Dorothy received an Associate Degree from Nebraska State Teacher's College at Kearney in 1944. Dorothy received her Registered Nursing Degree at the St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Dorothy began her nursing career in Denver, Colorado, where she met Robert. Dorothy and Robert were married in Denver on November 24, 1949, and resided there for about one year, having previously lived in Pueblo, Colorado and Portales, New Mexico before moving to Creston in 1956. Dorothy was a homemaker until her sons were all in school. At that time, she resumed her nursing career. On July 1, 1987, Dorothy retired after 22 years as the head surgical nurse at the Creston Medical Clinic. She was hired by Dr. R.H. Kuhl and retired under Dr. R.M. Kuhl.
Dorothy was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, Registered Nurses Association and VFW Auxiliary. Dorothy really enjoyed playing bridge.
Dorothy is survived by her sons: Stephen R. (wife Carol) of Kansas City, Missouri; Patrick R. (wife Pam) of Allen, Texas; Michael V. of Kansas City, Missouri; and Daniel J. (wife Kristi) of Marion, Iowa; her eight grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Laura, Evan, Emily, Joshua, Maleta and Olivia; her sisters: Alice (Schmitz) Reichstein of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Margaret Schmitz of Salinas, California; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, her husband, Robert on July 10, 2006; granddaughter, Ashley; two brothers, Bernard and Francis Schmitz, one sister, Laura Schmitz and her brother-in-law, Rink Reichstein.
Memorial contributions were directed to the Dorothy Cecilia Montague Scholarship Fund for S.W.C.C. School of Nursing.
