Kenneth L. Horrigan, age 78, of Chelsea, was born March 25, 1927, in rural Haven, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Eula (Smith) Horrigan and died on November 22, 2005, at his home in rural Chelsea, Iowa
On September 23, 1945, Kenny was sent to the U.S. Army in the Medical Core at Fort Snelling,Minnesota. He had his basic training at Camp Crouder, Camp Beal, California. He was assigned to the 6th Army as a medic. Then he was sent to Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, California for one year. Letterman General Hospital was the 3rd largest Hospital at that time. Kenny was discharged honorably as a Sergeant on May 31, 1947, serving in WW.II
On July 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Nadine P. Huryta, in Toledo, Iowa. They made their home in the Haven area. He was a farmer in the Tama and Chelsea area and loved raising registered Angus cattle. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was a 4H leader and was a member of the Benda-Sell American Legion Post #269 in Chelsea.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nadine on Feb.5, 1999; one daughter, Rosalie Jean and one sister Marie Wilkinson.
Survivors include one son, Steven (Lynn) Horrigan of Tama; Two daughters, Judy (Rick) Nuefeld of Calgary, Alberta Canada and Marcia Horrigan of Marshalltown; five Grandchildren, Bill Horrigan, Wendy Trevizo, Reyna Horrigan, Jessica Nuefeld, Treveor Nuefeld; four Great Great grandchildren; and one niece Nadine Kliess of Toledo.
