Owen B. Catron Sr. 48 of Huxley died of cancer Monday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The body was cremated and memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Buckingham Cemetery there.
Mr. Catron was born in Marshalltown and had lived in Traer and Dysart before returning to Marshalltown. He moved to Huxley several years ago. He had worked for Deere & Co. in Waterloo and been a vacuum cleaner salesman and a bartender.
He is survived by his wife, Patty, four sons, Owen Jr. of Traer, Steven of State Center, Joshua of Marshalltown and Kevin of Huxley; three daughters, Amy Beth Tranmer of Nebraska, Jessica Catron of Marshalltown and Ceirrah Catron of Huxley; a step-daughter, Brooke Kurth of Tama; two brothers, Wynnfield of Traer and Charles Hampton of Colorado; two sisters, Kris Linderman of Dysart and Sue Thompson of Cedar Falls; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen B. Catron Sr. Memorial Fund for an establishment memorial.
