Age 94 of 3005 Watkins Road, Horseheads New York and formerly of Illinois, on February 29, 1996. Predeceasing Mrs. Galey was her husband, Charles L., in 1964. Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Hauser of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Catherine Bargar, John (Maureen) Hauser and Anne (Theodore) Loring; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Molly, David and Scott; brother, Horace (Mary) Amidon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helene was born October 15, 1901 in Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Hattie May and Henry Stuart Amidon.
She was married to Charles Galey on October 10, 1926. The couple resided in Chicago and later in Lombard, Illinois. The couple had a daughter, Patricia.
Helene was active in the First United Methodist Church of Lombard, where she was Treasurer there for over 35 years until moving to Elmira with her daughter in 1988. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Monday from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Her funeral and committal service will take place there at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours at 4:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Martin officiating. Interment in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Lombard, IL at the convenience of the family.
