Delmer J. Steiert

April 1, 1935-January 27, 2021

DAVENPORT-Delmer J. Steiert, 85, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

At this time there will be no services or visitation. Memorials may be made to the Grace Bible Fellowship Food Pantry in Moline, Illinois.

Delmer was born April 1, 1935 in Gladbrook, Iowa, the son of John & Alfreda (Carstensen) Steiert. He was a 1954 graduate of Gladbrook High School and had served in the United States Navy. On November 29, 1959, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Stewart in Newton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2009.

Delmer had worked on the family farm and then with Monroe Business Machines first in Dubuque and then transferring to Davenport.

He then had owned and operated Merl's Business Machines for over thirty years, retiring in 2018.

Delmer was an active member of the Milan Rotary Club, known for never missing a meeting. He had also been a member of the Milan American Legion Post 569. Delmer had recently been a volunteer for the Grace Bible Fellowship Food Pantry.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons and daughters-in-law, Scott & Carla Steiert of Bernard, Iowa and David & Cindy Steiert of Davenport; and his grandchildren, Cody and Elisa Steiert of Seattle, Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and one brother.
