Obituary
PATRICK J. BURNS DIES MARCH 26 at MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.
Patrick J. Burns, 83, who farmed northeast of Toledo for many years and moved to Cedar Rapids more than 20 years ago, died March 26 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. E.F. Bennett, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mr. Burns, the son of John and Mary Burns, natives of Cork, Ireland, was born Febuary 20, 1863, in St. Mary's Canada. He was married 58 years ago to Anna Brick of Tama county. She died December 26 1930, and for the last 10 years he had his home with his daughter in Minneapolis. A son, Lee Burns, died several years ago.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs H.S. Buters (Katherine) of Rockford, Illinois; Lillian Burns, of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Bennett (Lena), three grandchildren, a niece and two nephews.
Services were held Saturday, March 30, at 10a.m. at the Immaculate Conception church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. R.M. McDermott, O.P., a nephew, friar of St Catherine's church of New York City, assisted by two friends, Rev J. McGloughton, O.P. friar of New Jersey, and Rev. Nugent of Chicago. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
