From a visit to the Tama County Poor Farm
April 23, 1886 - Traer Star Clipper, Traer, Iowa
Martin Burns, age 74, came to Poor farm in 1884 from Tama City. He is a native of Ireland. He has been in America forty years. He worked several years in stone quarries in eastern Pennsylvania. We have his statement to the effect that he handled every stone that is in the Canada side abutment of the suspension bridge. He has been in Iowa nine years during which time he "walked around."
