TAMA - Harry J. Yuska, age 85, of Tama, died Sunday, November 16, 2008, at the Veteran Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, following a short illness.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 11 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2008 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Harry was born on August 6, 1923, in rural Clutier, the son of Joseph and Frances (Zmolek) Yuska. He served his country in the US Army during World War II and Korea.
He married Dorothy Hotchkiss Norris on February 5, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. Harry was a foreman with the Tama County Road Department and was employed by the country for over thirty-three years. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Catholic Foresters, and formerly volunteered for the Vining Fire Department. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and garden and making woodcrafts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Chyrl Walker; a sister, Eleanor Novotny; three brothers, Stanley, Melvin and Joseph Yuska; and a granddaughter, Dawn Walker. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Tama; four children, Susan Moore of Olin, Linda (Dwight) Milliken of Johnston, Terry Yuska of Scott, IN, and Joann (Randy) Warren of Hampton, GA; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; seven sisters, Dorothy Adams of Clutier, Helen Zmolek of Traer, Leona (Vernon) Krezek of Clutier, Albina (LaVerne) Krizek of Waterloo, Martha Untiedt of Clutier, Maxine Yanda of Traer, and Betty Krezek of Traer; and two brothers, Clarence (Sharon) Yuska of Toledo, and Ronald (Beverly) Yuska of Tama.
A memorial fund has been established.
