WATERLOO - Calvin J. Hilligas, Sr., 71, of 106 E. Third St., Apt 605, formerly of Chelsea, died Saturday July 2, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Iowa City, following a long illness.

He was born Jan. 21, 1934, in Aliceville, Kan., son of John and Carrie Loschen Hilligas.

Mr. Hilligas served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years.

Survivors include: two sons, Calvin Jr. (Deb) of Sioux Falls, SD, and John (Debra) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Raylene Behounek of Belle Plaine; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, John (Betty) of Livona, Mich., Merle of Garnett, Kan., and Earl of Arkansas; and six sisters, Dorothy Prusha, Doris (Larry) Freese and Virginia McFatridge, all of Chelsea, Elsie Blomme and Nancy Masterson, both of Belle Plaine, and Frances (Bob) Kaufman of Traer.

Preceded in death by Darlene Hilligas; a son, Scott Hilligas; a daughter, Joy Lynn Hilligas; grandson, Steven Hilligas; parents, John and Carrie Hilligas; stepfather, Joe Kriva.
