Services for R.D. (Mac) McFatridge, 63, were held Tuesday from Hrabak's Funeral Home, Chelsea, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Clay Rogers, pastor of the Bethany Assembly of God Church, Belle Plaine, officiated. Organist, Mrs. Wayne Parizek, included the selections "Going Home," "Old Rugged Cross," and "In The Garden." Burial was in the Rector Cemetery, Chelsea, with military rites and the following as pallbearers: Fred Prusha, Merle Hilligas, Earl Hilligas, Calvin Hilligas, Bob Kaufman, and Vince Barloon. Honorary bearers were Oleo Boone, Bert Roberts, Harold Meck, Steve Robinson, Dick Blomme and Larry Freese. A memorial fund has been established.
Mr. McFatridge died Friday, Aug. 9, 1985 at his residence after being ill eight months with cancer.
He was born April 19, 1922, a son of Lawdell and Amanda Jane McFatridge at Boswell, Okla. He married Virginia Hilligas at Grand Island, Nebr., November 1, 1943. He was employed as a laborer at Foodland Industries in Cedar Rapids. He also served in the Army from October of 1942 to October 19, 1945.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; four daughters, Linda Bracey of Brooklyn, Sharon and Terry; both of Chelsea, and Patty Behounek of Iowa City; two sons, Robert of Cedar Rapids and Richard of Kankakee, Ill.; one brother, Charles of Mesquite, Texas; three sisters, Elsie Greer of Dallas, Texas, Odell Anderson of Grand Saline, Texas, and Muriel Reynolds of Corsicana, Texas; and 13 grandchildren.
