August Schroeder 1833-1916One of Dysart’s pioneers died, Dec. 30, 1916, August Schroeder after a short illness caused by a fall. Schroeder was born Jan 3, 1833, in Norder-Ditmarschen, Germany and was 83 years old when he passed away. He left his native land in 1854 and came to America settling in Canada. In the fall of the same year, he located at Moline, Ill., where he resided until the war broke out, at which time he enlisted and served until the war ended.
In September 1868, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaretha Sohn at Davenport where they resided for a number of years. In July, 1891 they moved to a farm in Genesco Township where they remained until the spring of 1894, when they took up their residence in Dysart. Mr. Schroeder was a member of the Lutheran Church.
At the time of his death he was survived by a daughter, Mrs. H. H. Kinner of Elberton. Rev. H. Christiansen had charge of the funeral services.
