EARLY TODAY; WAS BUT AGE TWO WHEN HER
PARENTS CAME TO COLORADO IN A COVERED WAGON

Mrs. Sarah Rose Akins who came to Boulder with her parents, Isaac McGee and Delia O'Conner McGee by covered wagon from Iowa in 1876, died at the Boulder General Hospital at 12:30 this morning. She had been ill eight days and was 82 years of age.

She was born in Tama County, Iowa,, Sept. 20, 1874 and was married in Boulder Jan. 17, 1896 to Charles Spencer Akins. The latter died Nov. 27, 1930 of a cerebral hemorrhage while attending a dance in the Citizens Hall with his wife. He was a member of pioneer families that founded Boulder, and was employed as a teamster at the University.

Surviving Mrs. Akins are four sons, William, Guy, Lee and Sam Akins, all of Boulder; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth (Jerry) Mohin, Longmont, and Mrs. Irene (Oscar C.) Anderson of Denver. Mrs. Charles Pancost, who resides east of Boulder is a sister. There are nine grand and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Akins was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Townsend, and Golden Age Clubs.

Rosary services will be held at 7:30 Friday night at the Howe Mortuary. Mass will be sung Saturday morning at 9 at the Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in Green Mountain cemetery.

Mrs. Akins resided at 2417 Pine. One of the sons, Lee Akins, is connected with the physical education department of the University. Samuel J. Akins is auto maintenance foreman for the University garage.
