Mae Amelia Fletcher was born February 3, 1915 at a farmhouse between Traer and Dysart, the daughter of Joseph and Amanda (Ehlers) Thierer. She graduated from Traer High School. Mae was united in marriage to Harvey Fletcher on September 14, 1936; he preceded her in death on March 3, 1991. They lived in Traer, where Mae owned a Beauty Shop, then moved to Oklahoma City, while Harvey was in the service. After his honorable discharge, they moved to Anita, Iowa, and together owned Gambles Hardware Store for 25 years. After retiring, they moved to Dysart, living there for 41 years. Mae was a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Anita, was in card club and a bowling league. She learned how to golf, and got a hole in one at Dysart. Mae really loved her church, Dysart United Methodist Church.
Mae passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Sunnycrest Nursing Home at the age of 101. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother Ernie Thierer and 2 sisters: Opal Heckroth and Edna Ramthun. Mae is survived by a son Don (Carol) Fletcher of Liberty, Missouri; 2 grandchildren Darin (Michele) Fletcher of Fort Collins, Colorado and Kelly (Brian) Ehrenberg of Kansas City, Missouri; 5 great grandchildren: Ethan Donald, Tate Frederick, Harrison Harvey, Wesley Wayne Fletcher and Lilah Mae Ehrenberg.
