Funeral Services of Mrs. C.A. Amidon Held at Rose Hill, Monday

Phoebe Almira Griffin, daughter of Amos and Hannah Griffin, was born in Ononadago county, New York, on December 14, 1830 and died at the home of her daughter near Toledo, Iowa, January 17, 1914, being at the time of her death, 83 years, 1 month and 3 days of age. She was united in marriage with Amos C. Amidon in the year 1843 and to this union four children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Amidon came to Tama county and located in Howard township about forty-four years ago. Since then she has resided in Toledo until the last few months, when she has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. Levi Mohler. Mrs. Amidon had been a member of the Methodist church for sixty-five years and was always a faithful attendant on all the means of grace until prevented by the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Amidon was exceptionally good in caring for the sick and since the death of her husband much of her time was taken up in this manner. The children are Mrs. Levi Mohler, Henry and C.A. Amidon, of Toledo, and W.V. Amidon, of Larchwood, Ia. The deceased is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the Rose Hill church on Monday and were in charge of Rev. Yates, pastor of the Methodist circuit. Six grandsons of Mrs. Amidon acted as pall bearers. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.
