Mrs. Hattie M. Amidon, 90, for many years a resident of Toledo until moving to Lombard, Ill., where she lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Galey, died early Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 1962. She had been in failing health for about two years. Mrs. Amidon had lived in Lombard about 30 years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Henderson Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Wendell Z. Henline, pastor of the Evangeltical United Brethren church. A brief prayer service was held in Lombard Sunday evening. Music was furnished by Mrs. John A. Gray, who sang "In the Garden" accompanied by Mrs. M.R. Thompson. Pallbearers were Robert H. Amidon of Omaha, Robert J. Amidon and Larry Hoffeditz of Rock Island, Ill., Richard Westbrook of Letts, Richard L. Amidon of Illinois City, Il., and Richard H. Amidon of Toledo, all grandsons of the deceased. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery northwest of Toledo.

Hattie May Criley, daughter of Henry Crouse Criley and Jane Elizabeth Essig Criley, was born January 21, 1872 at Cheltenham, Missouri. As a young woman she came to Toledo to make her home. She was united in marriage with Henry S. Amidon of Toledo. They were the parents of nine children. A daughter, Mrs. Hazel Wilson, and a son, Harry E. Amidon, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Mrs. Margaret Rodda at Arvada, Colorado.

Children surviving are Herbert W. Amidon, Illinois City, Ill., Hollis D. Amidon, Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Helene Galey, Lombard, Ill., Mrs. Hester Proffitt, Compton, Calif., Mrs. Harriette Allen, Mission, Kansas, Miss Henriette Amidon, Toledo, and Horace R. Amidon, Iowa City. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, besides several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Amidon was a member of the Toledo Evangelical United Brethren church and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
