Funeral services for Melvin Ralph Reinig, 77 of rural Traer and Dysart were held on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at the Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer with Pastor Sheryl Campbell officiating. Burial was at the Buckingham Cemetery.

Memorial may be directed to the family.

Melvin died on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Sunrise Hill Care & Rehab Center in Traer due to cancer.

Melvin Ralph Reinig was born in Toledo, IA, the son of Ralph O. and Kaleta Youngman Reinig. He attended Otter Creek #5 school and Dinsdale Consolidated School where he graduated in 1947.

On May 29, 1948 he married Naomi Stoakes. Melvin and Naomi made their home on a farm east of Traer. Naomi passed away in June of 1998. Melvin was a member of Ripley United Church of Christ. His memberships included a 50-year member of the Hesperia Lodge #340 Masonic Lodge of Traer, the Scottish Rite Consistory of Masons, and the El Kahir Shrine.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Naomi.

He is survived by two sons, Craig and wife Sharon of Roswell, GA, Steve and wife Rose of Manchester; two daughters, Chris and husband Rick Robertson of Cedar Rapids, IA; Cindy and husband Don Sienknecht of Ames, IA; two sisters, Edith Moeller of Reinbeck, IA and Thelma Lage of Gladbrook, IA and eight grandchildren.

Overton Funeral Home, Traer, was in charge of the arrangements.
