WILLARD SHOOK SERVICES HELD

Willard E. Shook, 59, of Tama, a former resident of Marshalltown, died Monday evening, June 28, at his home following a 25-year illness with multiple sclerosis.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mason-Hand Funeral Home in Tama, with the Rev. Frank Everett of the Central Christian Church of Marshalltown officiating. Burial with military honors was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama.

The son of Elizah and Elsie Provin Shook, he was born Dec. 14, 1922, at Guernsey. He received his education in the rural Guernsey schools.

He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Dec. 20, 1943. After serving in the Asiatic Pacific theater in the Philippines, he received an honorable discharge in 1946. He was recalled to active duty on Sept. 27, 1950, from Grinnell, completing a tour of duty in Korea in August 1951.

He was married to Dorothy H. Foster of Grinnell. He later was married to Darlene F. Church of Tama. They lived in Marshalltown for 25 years where Mr. Shook was employed by Gra-Iron Foundry until retiring in August 1957. He continued living in Marshalltown until moving to Tama in July 1976.

Mr. Shook was a member of the Central Christian Church in Marshalltown.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, George.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Verl E. Shook of Malcom, Vern E. Shook of Kenai, Alaska, Wanda F. Clark of Tama and Myron J. Shook of Tama; and a brother, Kenneth K. Shook of Grinnell.
