Avis B. Norris was born in Manning, Iowa, July 28, 1887. When ten years of age she came with her parents to Tama and here she grew to young womanhood.

On July 9, 1901, she was united in marriage to Clarence E. Edwards. To them were born three children, all of whom survive her.

She was converted at the age of eleven and united with the Methodist Episcopal church where she retained her membership until the time of her death. She departed this life on April 18, 1912, aged 24 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Norris, her husband and three children Zealous, Aline and Norris George, four brothers and one sister viz, Vernis, Clint, Elmer, Ned and Zealous besides a large number of friends.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Saturday afternoon conducted by the pastor, Rev. E.G. Copeland. The music was furnished by the Baptist church choir of which her brother is a member. Interment was made at Oak Hill cemetery.
