OBITUARY

MAURINE McCONNELL

Marine McConnell, 78, of Traer, died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo following a short illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning March 17, 1998, at Overton Funeral Home in Traer with the Rev. Rick Vesely officiating. Burial was at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.

Casket bearers were Ron McConnell, Kevin McConnell, Donald McConnell Jr, Steve Jacobs, Daron Jacobs, Joe Jacobs, Mike Papesh and Josh Blohm. Floral arrangements were handled by Jeanette Bartholomew and Bea Stammer.

Maurine M. McConnell was born July 28, 1919, near Elberon, IA, the daughter of Delpha and Grace (Winters) Dobson. As a young girl Marine moved to the Garwin area where she began school. She later moved to Traer and graduated from Traer High School in 1937.

On Aug. 3, 1937, she was united in marriage to Deane W. McConnell at Traer and the couple made their home in Traer all their married life.

Maurine worked in many Traer area restaurants and for the Traer Sale Barn for over 20 years. She also was employed at the Traer Convalescent Home and later retired as the Assistant Administrator at Robert's Nursing Home in Waterloo.

Following Deane's death on July 7, 1977, she continued to make her home in Traer.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by one son, Donald McConnell and one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Delores) Jacobs, both of Traer; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.
