OBITUARY
Blanche Gwynn Steffen was born on Sept. 28, 1882, at Traer, Iowa, daughter of Joe and Lizzie (Fearer) Gwynn. Blanche received her education at Traer graduating in the class of 1900 and then continued her education at Iowa Normal School in Cedar Falls from 1901 to 1903.
Blanche taught school in and around Traer and on July 31, 1907 she married John Steffen, who operated the clothing store in Traer for many yeras.
Blanche was active in the community and its organizations incuding the United Methodist Church, the Iowana Club and was past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In more recent years Blanche was a resident of Friendship Village at Waterloo where she died Wednesday, August 24, 1983, at the age of 100 years.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one sister and is survived by one niece and one nephew.
