OBITUARY
Betty Ann Staker was born March 14, 1944 at Elberon, Iowa; the daughter of Donald and Alma (Snider) Parizek. Betty received her education in Elberon and at the age of 9 moved with her family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She then continued her education in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962.
On December 3,1966 she was united in marriage to Larry Staker at Traer and they made their home in Traer. Since 1971 Betty has been employed in the advertising department at the Traer Star-Clipper in Traer and Tama News Herald in Tama and currently was serving as Advertising Manager. For a short time during those years she also worked for the Central Iowa Credit Union.
For the past two years Betty has been fighting a battle with cancer and her death came at her home in Traer on Tuesday, October 7, 1997 at the age of 53 years.
Betty was an active member of the Traer community and was a member of the Traer American Legion Auxiliary, Traer Country Club, a fireman's wife and was a Past President of the Traer Chamber of Commerce.
Her mother, a brother Richard, a nephew Matt and her grandparents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Larry of Traer, a daughter Jodi and her husband Kelvin Bokhoven of Pella, Iowa, her father and his wife, Donald and June Parizek of Cedar Rapids, two grandchildren, Katlyn and Marlee, one brother Tom Parizek of Cedar Rapids, and two sisters; Mary Cech of Fairfax, Iowa and Linda Kulish of Swisher, Iowa.
