OBITUARY

Helen L. Soucek was born May 6, 1917 at Traer, Iowa; the daughter of William and Nellie Jane (Robinson) Neidick. Helen attended school in Traer and graduated from Traer High School in the Class of 1934

She continued her education at Broadlawns School of Nursing in Chicago, graduating in 1941.

In 1943 she served in the US Army Nurse Corp. during WW II until her discharge in 1945.

She was married to Lester Soucek and they later divorced.
Helen worked as a nurse at St. Francis and Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo until her retirement in 1979.

She was a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where her death came on Thursday, November 24, 1994 at the age of 77 years.

In free moments Helen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed fishing and working crossword puzzles.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and women's circle, Traer American Legion, Friends of the Library, and Nature Study.

She is survived by one daughter Linda (Mrs. Tom) McDermott of Traer, one brother William (Bud) Neidick of Traer, two sisters; Merle McMillan of Traer and Doris Schroeder of Golden, CO, and three grandchildren; Mark, Rebecca and Jane.
