OBITUARY

DALE W. PALMER

Funeral services for Dale W. Palmer, 86, of Dysart, were held Saturday morning, Oct. 17, at the United Methodist Church in Dysart with the Rev. Ron Blix officiating. Burial was at the Dysart cemetery. Special Masonic services were held Friday evening, Oct. 16, at Overton Family Funeral Home in Dysart.

Mr. Palmer died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998 at his home. Music for the service was provided by Marilyn Mehlhaus, organist and Paul Lindeman, vocalist. Casket bearers were Brett Nelson, Melanie Franke, Patrick Franke, Robin Nelson, Marc Ripperger, Sara Ripperger and Kate Mitchell. Flowers were tended to by Mr. and Mrs. Glynn Burhenn and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Sawyer.

Dale William Palmer was born May 28,1912, near Dysart; the son of William and Agusta (Huppert) Palmer. He began his education in Tama county and later attended high school in La Porte City. Dale always wanted to be a farmer and when he left school he began farming with his family.

On Aug. 10, 1939, Dale married Arlene Helen Krafka at the Dysart Methodist Church. Dale and Arlene made their home farming southeast of Dysart for 59 years. In July Dale and Arlene moved to their home in Dysart.

Over the years Dale was very active in his community and was a member of the Dysart United Methodist Church where he served on the church council. He also served on the Dysart School Board, the Farmers Co-op Telephone Company Board as well as the Benton county ASCS committee. Dale was a devoted member of the Dysart Masonic Lodge for 60 years and a 50- year member of the Order of Eastem Star.

His favorite times were spent with his family and grandchildren and he took every opportunity to attend their activities. Dale also enjoyed working with his ponies and giving rides.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Verian; and a sister, Mac Kahn.

He is survived by his wife. Arlene of Dysart; three daughters. Susan (Mrs. Richard) Delfs of Dysart, Becky (Mrs. Gary) Ripperger of Des Moines and Pam (Mrs. Ken) Mitchell of Buckingham; four brothers. Ted of Gowrie, Albert of La Porte City, Clifford and Marvin both of Dysart; three sisters, Ruth Brandtl and LaVaun, Raub both of Dysart and Thelma Anton of La Porte City; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
