OBITUARY
Merle McMillan was born in Traer on December 17, 1908, the daughter of William & Nellie (Robinson) Neidick, Sr. Merle was raised in Traer and graduataed from the Traer High School with the class of 1926. She then taught country school near Traer until she married Wallace S. McMillan on October 16, 1932 at the home of her parents.
Wallace and Merle made their home northwest of Traer until 1971, when they moved into Traer and resided at 906 2nd Street.
Wallace passed away on March 25, 1983 and Merle continued to live at the home they shared until January of this year when she became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer, where her death came on Friday, March 14, 1997 at the age of 88 years.
During her life Merle was an avid reader and was active with Traer Library where she also served as a board member.
Merle was also a former member and Elder of the Amity Presbyterian Church, a current member of the United Presbyterian Church in Traer, and was a Past President of the Tama Co. Farm Bureau Women's group.
Merle is survived by her 2 sons, Peter & David (Lora) both of Traer, 1 brother, William "Bud" (Mary) Neidick of Traer, 1 sister, Doris Schroeder of Colorado and 3 grandchildren, Lynn, Brian & Kristin McMillan.
Along with her parents and husband, Merle was preceded in death by her sister, Helen.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to attend the luncheon at the Church.
