OBITUARY
LEONARD LANE
Leonard E. Lane, 83, of Traer died Monday, March 2, 1998, at his home following a long illness.
Private family services conducted by the Rev. Marshall Monthei, were held at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer.
A memorial fund has been established.
Leonard Edward Lane was born July 13, 1914, at Garrison, IA, the son of Hoyt V. and Edna Mae (Dulin) Lane. He received his education at Garrison and then became employed at the Ford Garage in Vinton, IA.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Paul on Aug. 13, 1937 at Kirksville, MO. The couple made their home in Vinton.
In 1938 Leonard and Dorothy moved to Traer where Leonard worked as a mechanic for several of the area garages. He then became self-employed and operated his own garage and also operated a tree stump removal business for many years.
In free moments Leonard enjoyed antique auctions and flea markets as well as sight seeing. He was a member of the Traer United Methodist Church and a past member of the Traer Fire Department.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Janice Bearbower.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Traer; two sons, Tom Lane of Vinton and James Lane of Marshalltown; one daughter, Marva A. Elfers of Junction City, OR; one brother, Donald Lane of Dysart; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
