OBITUARY

Marion Kriz

Services for Marion M. Kriz, 71, of Traer were held Wednesday, July 7, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Traer with the Rev. Richard Nikolaisen officiating. Burial was at West Union Cemetery in rural Traer. She died Sunday afternoon, July 4, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Marion M. Eckhardt was born March 3, 1911, at Traer, the daughter of Peter and Edith (Smith) Eckhardt. She received her education in Traer, graduating in 1929. She taught school near Traer for several years.

She married Allen A. Kriz on May 23, 1920, at Milwaukee, Wis., where they made their home for a short time. The couple made their home in Traer the rest of their married life.

She worked for Hinson Manufacturing during World War II and was a telephone operator for many years in Traer, and later in Tama before taking retirement.

She was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Fritz, Dean and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband, Allen; a son, Max of Waterloo; two daughters, Mrs. Pete (Betty) Barge and Mrs. Elmer (Peggy) Bradley, both of Traer; a brother, Robert Eckhardt of Traer; three sisters, Emojean Williams of Traer, Mrs. Leonard (Marjorie) Axon of Tripoli and Betty Sell of Traer; her grandchildren, Susan, Steve, Kenny, Tracy, Jeffery and Michael, and her great grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie and Amber Jo.

Funeral service music was provided by organist Mrs. Wesley Tomlinson and vocalist Ferd Kvidera.

Casket bearers were Jeffery Kriz, Kenny Bradley, Steve Barge, Michael Kriz, David McIntyre, Craig Earley and honorary casket bearer Brian Barge.

On the flower committee were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Crist.

Overton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
