OBITUARY
FRANCES WATTS
Funeral services for Frances D. Watts, 48, of Traer, were held Tuesday, Dec. 16 [1986] at the United Methodist Church in Traer with the Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Burial was in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer. She died Sunday, Dec. 14 at the Hospice Unit at Covenant Medical Center, Kimball Avenue, Waterloo. Organist for the service was Joleen Harrington, and vocalist was Jerry Miller. Honorary casket bearers were Leon Weber, Gary Croskrey, Bill Alexander and Lee Visser. Serving as active casket bearers were Gary Kruse, Donald Lau, Robert Clark, Jarold Lister, Neil Donald and Lyle Buddenhagen. Attending the flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Cizek, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hildebrand, Susan Deke and Jean Kruse.
Frances Watts was born March 25, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Harley and Dorothy (Crall) Myers. She received her education at Ottumwa High School, graduating in the class of 1956. She attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Ok, and on August 20, 1961, she married LaVelle Watts at Montezuma. LaVelle and Fran worked in Stratford for two years before moving to Traer in 1963, where LaVelle was the guidance counselor at North Tama Schools, and Fran taught school part-time. After LaVene's death on June I, 1978, Fran continued to make her home in Traer. More recently she had maintained a temporary residence in Waterloo to be closer to medical care she needed.
Fran was a member of the Traer United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Dean of Iowa City, and Larry of K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan; one daughter, Marcia Watts of, Iowa City; one brother, Richard Myers of Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Mary) Cook of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Black of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Mrs. Gerald (Bonnie) Miller of Olathe, Kan.
Overton Funeral Home, Traer, was in charge of arrangements.
