OBITUARY

DWAYNE E. PETERSEN

Funeral services for Dwayne E Petersen. 76. of rural Dysart were held Thursday. Sept. 28. 2000 at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Traer with the Rev. Dr. Duane Lindberg offiiciating. Burial took place at Fredsville Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls, with military graveside rites conducted by the Traer American Legion Kubik-Finch Post #142 .

Dwayne died Monday. Sept. 25, 2000 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo after an extended illness. Casket bearers were Merlyn Petersen, Keene Petersen, James Bruhn, Bill Petersen, Steve Petersen, Curt Johnson, Larry Bruhn, Chris JJohnson, Ronnie Petersen and Andrew Hines. Music was provided by Jeanette Tomlinson, organist, and Sarah Hinds and LaVonne Johnson, vocalists. Serving on Ihe flower committee were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dengler and Mr. and Mrs. Don Hanus.

Dwayne Edward Petersen was born April 4, 1924 near Dike, the son of Wilbert and Lillian (Krumlinde) Petersen. He received his education at Dike High School graduating in the class of 1941. Dwayne then enlisted the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during WWII. Following his discharge he entered Momingside College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.

On May 7. 1949 Dwayne married Joyce Ware at the Presbyterian Church at Grundy Center. They made their home farming in Grundy Center, Dike and in 1961 moved to their present farm in rural Dysart. Dwayne was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Fredsville Lutheran Church, Traer Lions Club, President of the Tama County Soybean Association, Tama County Cattlemen, leader of 4-Leafer 4-H Club and the American Legion.

In free moments he enjoyed spending time with his family. attending school activities of his children and grandchildren. traveling, golfing and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roger, Howard and Dale; one sister, Thelma and one grandchild, Susan.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Joyce; two sons, R. William Petersen of Chariton and John E. Petersen of Waterloo; two daughters, Kathryn (Mrs. Michael) Hinds of Marion and Eileen (Mrs. Steve) Weber of Overland Park, KS; two brothers and their spouses, Leslie and Lois Petersen of Dike and Charles and Delores Petersen of Hudson; one sister LaVonne (Mrs. Bob) Johnson of Hudson and four grandchildren.

Overton Funeral Home-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
