OBITUARY

DOROTHY LATTING

Funeral services for Dorothy Latting, 85, foremerly of Traer, were held Thursday, April 17, 2003, at 10:30 am at Traer United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Rick Vesely officiated. Burial was in West Union Cemetery, rural Traer. Visitation hours were held Wednesday, 4-7 pm at Overton Funeral Home, Traer.

Mrs. Latting died Monday, April 14, 2003, at Virginia Gay Annex in Vinton following a short illness.

Dorothy Darlene Latting was born April 20, 1917, at Manning, IA, the daughter of Thomas Danch and Pearl Orilla (Parrish) Parkhouse. Dorothy received her education at Manning R..(clipping cut off).

On June 18, 1938, she was united in marriage to Webster Latting at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton. Dorothy and Webster began their married life in rural Garrison and W..(cut off) for a time. In 1941 they moved to Traer and Dorothy worked at the button factory in Toledo, IA and for many years was the book keeper for her husband's floor covering business.

In 1999 they moved to Ravenwood Care Center in Waterloo and for the past two ..(cut off), Dorothy had moved to a home in Vinton.

She was a member of the Traer United Presbyteerian Church and Rebekah Lodge.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and husband, Webster on March 9, 2003; six brothers: Ralph, Raymond, Lyle, (cut off), Lester and Floyd.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Darlene Plogmann and her husband, Gary, of Vinton; Robert Latting and wife, JoAnn of Grinnell; five grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

Overton Funeral Home-Traer was in charge of arrangements.
