OBITUARY
Delores Fairchfid
Services for Delores J Fairchild, 52, of Traer, will be held at 10:30 a. m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at the Traer United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Rick Vesely. Burial will take place at Buckingham Cemetery, rural Traer. Visitation hours will be held from 12 noon to 7 p. m. Thursday at Overton Funeral Home in Traer. Delores died of cancer Monday Sept. 21, 1998, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Music for the service will be provided by Joleen Edwards, organist and Wayne Dunlavey, vocalist. Casket bearers include Norman Chizek, Kevin Dostal, Robert Fairchild, Richard Hulme, Tom Huynh, Harlan Smith and Dr. Douglas Hanneman. Floral tributes will be tended to by Jacque Moffitt, Sharon Speirs and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ruzicka.
Delores Jean Fairchild was born at Waterloo on Nov. 26, 1945, the daughter of Leland and Dorothy (Nation) Philp. She graduated from Traer-Clutier Community High School in the Class of 1964. Following graduation she continued her education at Gates Business College majoring in Business Accounting. In 1966 Delores began employment at Farmers Savings Bank as an Assistant Cashier and later bcame Assistant Vice-President serving the bank for over 30 years.
On June 15, 1979, Delores was united in marriage to Donald Fairchild at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple made their home in Traer where Delores continued to work at the bank and help raise three stepchildren. In free moments she enjoyed traveling, reading and was treasurer of Boy Scout Troop No. 304.
Preceding her in death was her father, Leland Philp.. Delores is survived by her mother, Dorothy Philp of Traer; her husband, Donald of Traer; four stepsons, Jerry Fairchild of Cedar Rapids, Robert Fairchild of Gladbrook, Andy Fairchild of Columbus, Ohio and Adam Fairchild of Tonie, AL; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Gregg of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Tony and his wife, Lois Philp of Traer; one sister, Darlys M. Hulme of Vinton; as well as nine step-grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Grundy County Hospice.
