Susan Higgins

Susan Hansen Higgins, 90, of 600 Park Lake, Waterloo, died at Friendship Village Thu4rsday, June 22, 1995 of natural causes.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Waterloo, with the Rev. D. Stephen Clinton officiating. Organist was Dorothy Mueller and vocalist was Kenneth Earnest.

Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo.

Susan Hansen Higgins was born Nov. 25, 1904, near Earling, the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Cora Ellen Fischer Pace. She married Merlin Hansen July 6, 1932, in Tekamah, Neb., and the couple moved to Waterloo where Merlin was employed by John Deere.

The couple made their home in Waterloo and on a farm near Eagle Center until Merlin’s detain in 1977.

She married Harold Higgins of Traer on Oct. 21, 1983, in Waterloo. The couple made their home at Friendship Village until Harold’s death in 1991. Since then she has lived in the Friendship Village Heath Center.

Surviving are one son, Jon Hansen of Cedar Falls; one granddaughter; two brothers, Clayton Pace of Medford, Ore., and Harold Pace of Fort Dodge; one sister, Dora Duncan of Brush, Colo; three step-children, Robert Higgins of Traer; Mary Mixdorf of Iowa City, Sara Mitchell of Mt. Pleasant; nine step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
