Mildred “Millie” Hansen

Funeral services for Mildred “Millie” Hansen, 86, of Dysart, were held Monday, June 8, 1998 at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart, with the Rev. Edward Bastedo officiating. Burial was at Dysart Cemetery.

She died Thursday, June 4, 1998 at Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer after an extended illness.

Mildred M. Hansen was born March 26, 1912 at Flugstad near Duncombe, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Lizabeth (Olson) Housken, She was raised and attended school in Duncombe, graduating Duncombe High School.

On Oct. 5, 1940, Mildred was united in marriage to Robert Hansen at Pipestone, Minn., and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge until 1957, when they moved to Dysart. They owned and operated the Dysart Cleaners until their retirement in 1977.

Millie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart, and was very active when she was able. She also enjoyed collecting Danish porcelain.

Millie became a resident at Sunrise Hill Care Center in April of 1995.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Adolph and Clarence Housken, two sisters, Irene Goodrich and Ruth Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of Dysart; a son, Harlan and wife Jean Hansen of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Sharleen and Steve Overton of Dysart and Sheryl Hansen of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
