OBITUARY

Josephine M. (Libra) Nechanicky was born near Brook Prk, Minnesota on March 29, 1914 to Joseph and Frances (Christofk) Libra. She graduated from District 81 in 1932 and continued her education at the Anchor Hospital School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN, graduating in 1936. She continued nursing until 1939 when she married Marcel Nechanicky at Beroun, MN. Marcel and Josephine made their home farming in Geneseo Township until retiring in 1976.

In 1979 they moved to Traer where she continued to make her home following Marcel's death on August 9, 1984. In February of 1994 she became a resident of the Sunnycrest Care Center in Dysart where her death came on Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at the age of 85 years.

Josephine was active in Blessing Altar and Rosary Society, Geneseo Book Club, Tama County Nurses Association, Geneseo Election Board and later became a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, sewing, needlework, oil painting and traveling. She also enjoyed visits, letters and phone calls from family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Joseph, Bob and Ray and is survived by one son and his wife, Mark and Joleen of Buckingham; one daughter and her husband, Nancy and David Joens of Minnetonka, MN; one brother, Frank Libra of Hinckley, MN; five sisters, Dorothy VonReuden and Lillian Antonelli, both of Hinckley, MN; Alice Derry of Watertown, MN; Margaret Tenquist of Askov, MN, and Betty Musich of Ely, MN and six grandchildren.
