WENDT, Kenneth Frank (1914 - 1999)

Kenneth Frank WENDT, 85, was born September 19, 1914 to Frank and Anna WENDT in Ashland, Nebraska. He moved to the Buckingham area about 1940. He married Betty HOTZEL in 1941. They have 2 children. Paul of Eldora and Kathleen CROSS of Atlanta, Georgia.

Kenneth leaves his wife; 2 children, 2 granddaughters, Wendy BARNES of Traer and Sherry LYONS of Dysart, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 brother, Leon of Glenwood and Keith of Traer; and a sister, Mrs. Dale SANTMAN of Dysart. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ardis NASH.

Kenneth farmed near Traer and Buckingham until 1977 when he moved to Ames to be the assistant manager and bookkeeper at the Iowa Swine Testing Station.

He was a 4-H leader, assessor, board member of Buckingham CoOp, church treasurer, head usher and Sunday School Teacher at Geneseo Church, secretary-treasurer of Iowa Chester White Association, board member of the National Chester White Association, and gardener and maintenance man at Schoitz Hospital. He won many state and national awards as outstanding swine producer.

Kenneth died at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center Thursday, October 7 of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.

Memorial Services will be at Geneseo Methodist Church Monday, October 11 at 1:30 pm. Friends who wish may make memorials to the family.
