DRAPER, Alta Margaretha (1912 - 1999)

Obituary

Alta Margaretha DRAPER was born in Crystal Township on March 2, 1912. She was the daughter of Gustav and Biena (LIETZ) SCHADE. Alta received her education in Crystal Township and then worked in the home of many area families. She was united in marriage to Norman Paul DRAPER on June 16, 1937 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, IA. Alta and Norman then moved on the DRAPER family farm in rural Buckingham. In an addition to raising her family Alta was an active member of the community and the Genesea United Methodist Church. At church she taught Sunday School and vacation bible school, and was active in the church circle and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Buckingham Harmony Home Makers and loved to coffee with friends. She did textile painting, gardening and was an accomplished cook. In recent years Alta’s heath had failed and more recently she had become a resident of Sunrise Hill Care Center at Traer where her death came on Saturday, April 10, 1999 at the age of 87 years. Alta was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lester, one sister Helen NEILSEN, and an infant grandchild. she is survived by her husband Norman, one son and his wife David and Jayne DRAPER of Buckingham, a daughter Roselynn and her husband Terry EDWARDS of Chantilly, VA, two sisters Mrs. Mildred (Charles) REED of Waterloo and Mrs. Loma (Robert) OCHS of Garwin, as well as four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Following the funeral service family and friends are invited for a time of fellowship and a lunchion in the church basement.
