DINSDALE, Calvin Ward (1920 - 1980)

OBITUARY

Calvin Ward DINSDALE was born at Dinsdale on Feb. 7, 1920, son of Thomas and Jennie (FLEMING) DINSDALE. Calvin received his education at Dinsdale and then helped his parents on the farm. Calvin later farmed with his brother, Wilson, before entering the U. S. Armed Services serving his country during WWII. After his discharge Calvin returned to farming and on Dec. 5, 1953, Calvin married Marilyn WOOD at Waterloo and Calvin and Marilyn have lived all their married life north of Traer. Calvin had retired from farming in recent years but still kept busy around the farm doing the things he enjoyed working at. On Sunday, Nov. 23, 1980, Calvin and Marilyn were returning home from visiting family and friends when Calvin suffered a heart attack and was taken to Schoitz Memorial Hospital at Waterloo where he died that evening at the age of 60 years. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister and is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Traer, one son, Craig, of Waterloo, two daughters, Mrs. Martin (Jodi) McCONAUGHY of Marion, and Mrs. Gregory (Susan) L’Allier of Roseville, Minn., four brothers, Floyd, LeRoy, Marvin and E. Wilson all of Traer, as well as five sisters, Mrs. Matilda FOSTER of Fairbank, Ia., Mrs. Ella CLAUSSEN of Traer, Mrs. Mildred WITT of Hudson, Lydia DINSDALE of Traer and Mrs. Arlene FRIER of Reinbeck.
