CHEKAL, Emil Edward (1905 - 1999)

Obituary

Emil Edward CHEKAL was born September 4, 1905 at Clinton, Iowa; the son of Joe and Mary (KRATOSKA) CHEKAL. At a young age Emil moved to Belle Plaine, Iowa; where he attended school. Following his schooling he worked as a meat cutter in Belle Plaine and also after hours for Charlie Vanicek in Traer. On February 2, 1942 he was united in marriage to Marion HOTZEL and later that year Emil was called to serve his country during WWII. Following his discharge he worked for Grinnell Sprinkler Company of Chicago before he later purchased the butcher shop from Mr. Vanicek in Traer. Emil operated the butcher ship until his retirement. In April of this year Emil became a resident of the Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer where his death came on Wednesday, August 11, 1999 at the age of 93 years. In free moments Emil and Marion Enjoyed traveling and spending many years together wintering in Texas. he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Foster and one sister Agnes FETZER. He is survived by his wife Marion, two brothers; Bernard CHEKAL of Charlotte, North Carolina and Lawrence “Jack” CHEKAL of Salem, Oregon.
