Burl Beck, 75, Dies suddenly
Burl Beck, 75, Toledo, died unexpectedly Friday noon, Oct. 2, at Marshalltown Community Hospital East, where he was taken earlier in the day.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Henderson Funeral Home in Toledo, with the Rev.Donald Thompson, pastor at Otterbein United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo.
He was born Dec. 8, 1894, near Toledo, son of George Washington and Sadie Jordan Beck. He was reared in the Toledo area and attended rural schools
He was married to Lucille Fisher of Montour at Traer Jan 18. 1917. They farmed near Mason city, Traer, Toledo, and Tama. They moved to Toledo in 1930, where he became a livestock buyer. He continued that work until retiring two years ago because of ill health.
He was a member of the Tama-Toledo Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviors are his widow; a son Virgil of Valdosta, GA.; three daughters, Mrs Robert (Wanda) Dee of Mount Vernon, Mrs.Allen (Wilma) Haut of Davenport and Mrs. Ed (Glee) Springer of Toledo; a brother, Lester Beck of Toledo; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister.
