Born Feb 28, 1897, in Vining, IA.

Son of John and Anna Swatosh.

Enlisted May 5, 1917 at Sheldon; entered Camp Logan; transferred to Camp Mills, Camp Upton; first entered Co. E, 2nd Iowa Inf.

Mustered out May 16, 1919, from Hdq. Co., 168th Inf.

In France Dec 1, 1917; took part in the battles of Lorraine, Champagne, Chateau-Thierry, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne. Corporal.
