Enlisted May 18, 1917 at Marshalltown, IA.
Entered Ft. Logan; transferred to Camp Baker, Camp American University, Washington, DC; first entered Co. A, 2nd Regt., Engineers.
Mustered out Aug 16, 1919 from Hdqr. Co. , 2nd Regt., Engineers.
In France Oct 14, 1917; member of Hdqrs. Co., 2nd Regt., 2nd Div. In battles of Toulon Trogon, Aisne Ply, Chateau Thierry, Aisne-Marne, Marbach, St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne. Company was decorated several times by the French.
