Death of G. K. Turner's Father

Trainmaster G. R. Turner returned to the city last night, from Trempealeau, Wis., where he was called by the serious illness of his father, C. E. Turner, and today, at 10:20 he received a message conveying the sad intelligence of his parent's death. C. E. Turner was one of Trempealeau's early settlers, locating there in 1855. Goodness of heart was one of his chief attributes, and those who met him during his visits to his son in this city, will regret exceedingly to hear of his passing away. He was 77 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Turner leave for Wisconsin tomorrow morning, to be present at the funeral, which occurs Sunday. They expect to return to Waterloo, Monday night.

Waterloo Daily Courier - December 4, 1896
