Mrs. B. L. Allen Dies Saturday Night
Heart Attack Ends Long IllnessMrs. Emily Beatrice Allen, 67, wife of Bert L. Allen, of the Allen Motor company, died at her home, 703 Wilson Avenue, Saturday at 10:45 p. m., following a heart attack. She had been in ill health for the past five years. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. from the Adams chapel. In the absence from the city of the. Rev. R. B. Davidson, pastor of the Baptist church; the Rev. Walter A. Morgan, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery. Pall bearers will include John and Loren Brain of Omaha, Neb.;. Harry and Loyd Brain of Hedrick, Ia.; Seymour Brown of Perry, Ia., and Leanord Allen of Pella, Ia. Mrs. Allen had been an active member prior to her illness in the White Shrine, Eastern Star, the Ames Woman's club, the Baptist church and several social groups.
Emily Beatrice Brain was born in London, England, Nov. 24, 1866, and came to the United States at
the age of 12 years. She was married to Bert L. Allen at Defiance, Ia., Dec. 21, 1887. The couple resided in Perry for 14 years, and came to Ames from Coon Rapids in 1926. Mrs. Allen was a talented musician, and during her residence in Perry was organist at the Baptist church for 10 years, and also organist for the Eastern Star in that city.Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Edwin H. and Fletcher B. of Ames and seven grand children. These are Eddie, Bob, Dorothy, John and Philip, children of Edwin and Marjorie and James children of Fletcher.
