THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, February 21, 2006.

Elwyn L. Myhre, 72, of Nevada, died Saturday, Feb. 18, at home. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Chet Ryan Mortuary with the Rev. Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Sheffield Cemetery in Story City.

Elwyn was born June 7, 1933, in Story City to Irvin and Ethel F. (Sheffield) Myhre. He was a 1950 graduate of Shipley High School. He married Patricia Faye Young April 26, 1952, in Mason City. In 2005, he retired after 22 years as a high voltage electrician for Meisner Electric. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, Newton Moose Lodge and the Cambridge Masonic Lodge. He loved being with his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting and tractors.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Myhre of rural Nevada; three sons, Elwyn Myhre Jr. and his wife Sandy (Fry) of Sundance, Wyo., and Mark Myhre and his wife Jody (Cannell) of Longmont, Colo.; one daughter, Lois Ann Smith and her husband Tim Smith of Nevada; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; one brother-in-law, aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Memorials may be directed to Homeward Hospice of Ames.
