THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 8, 2006.

Ralph Bunning, 98, formerly of 1586 X Ave., Ames, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Riverside Manor in Ames. He had been a resident at Riverside Manor in Ames since February 1999. Graveside services with interment will be at11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, in Bass Point Cemetery north of Boone.

He was born on July 7, 1907, in Woodbury County, the son of Julius and Minnie (Bunning) Bunning. He married Elma Bentley Nov. 14, 1930, in Boone.

He moved to Boone County in 1940 to work as a farm hand. He worked in farm service at Iowa State University from 1943 until he retired in 1970. Following his retirement, he continued to work for farmers in the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elma in April 1993; one son, Clifford Dean Bunning; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one sister; and five brothers.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert and Ann Bunning of Sneadsferry, N.C., and Donald and Joyce Bunning of rural Ames; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with the family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Manor for the great care of Ralph during the past seven years.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
