THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 1, 2006.

Virginia McCoy, 81, of Story City, died Monday, Jan. 30, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, rural Ames. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul's Church Cemetery.

Virginia was born July 24, 1924, in Story City to Milford J. and Eva M. (Corbin) Baldus. She graduated from Story City High School and Mercy Nursing College in Des Moines. She married James McCoy Nov. 24, 1953. She worked several years as a registered nurse at the Story City Hospital. She also worked as a director of nursing at Colonial Inn in Jewell, and at 3M in Ames. She lived in Story City her whole life and spent the last few years happily living at Bethany Manor in Story City. She loved to cook and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Mike and wife Karen McCoy of Story City; two daughters, Marge Armstrong and husband Neale of Council Bluffs and Kathy Ness and husband Marvin of Jewell; four grandchildren, Carlton Ness, Parker Ness, Lyndy Armstrong and Anna Armstrong; one brother Norman Baldus of Ames; and one sister Alma O'Donnell of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband James; one brother, Milford E. Baldus; and one sister, Marjorie Rehak.

Memorials may be directed to Bethany Manor or St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City with the family present after 6 p.m. A prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m.
