THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 24, 2006.
Amalia "Amy" Renee Rodgers, 20, of Boone and formerly of Ames, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, due to an auto accident. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at First Presbyterian Church of Boone. Dr. Richard Harken will officiate.
Amalia Renee Rodgers was born Sept. 15, 1985, in Anaheim, Calif., the daughter of Daniel Theodore and Gertrude (Bandl) Rodgers. She graduated from Ames High School in 2003. She attended Iowa State University in Ames for 2 1/2 years in horticulture, where she worked part-time as an intern in the summers.
After moving from West Covina, Calif., she lived in Ames for three years, then moved to Boone where she has lived for 3 1/2 years. Her family attends First Presbyterian Church of Boone. She was a member of the Equestrian Club and Horse Club at ISU. Amy played the guitar and was very good at it. She was a softball player since she was seven years old. She enjoyed country music, and with Amy's knowledge of horticulture, she loved growing plants and flowers.
She is survived by her parents, Dan and Trudy Rodgers of Boone; one brother, Matt Rodgers of Michigan; one sister, Kim Rodgers of Boone; her paternal grandmother, Lois Rodgers of Chino Hills, Calif.; and her maternal grandfather, Erich Bandl of Austria.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ted Rodgers; and her maternal grandmother, Katie Bandl.
No visitation is scheduled.
Because of Amy's love of flowers, the family request flowers to be given or memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, Fifth and Story streets of Boone, is in charge of arrangements.
