THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, January 24, 2006.

Janice (Pyle) Petitt, 57, of Waterloo, died of cancer Thursday, Jan. 19, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 21, at Hugeback-Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua with Pastor James Gilmore officiating. Betty Orric was the organist and the congregation sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Nashua.

Janice Rocelia Petitt was born Dec. 28, 1948, in Waterloo, the daughter of Malvin and Edith Lois (Goldsmith) Kuehne and attended school in Waterloo. She married Elden Pyle while living in Charles City, and to this union two sons were born. They later divorced.

She and her sister owned and operated a bakery delivering to New Hampton, Charles City and surrounding areas. She then moved to Mesa, Ariz., and worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Stewart Transport of Phoenix. She married David Petitt April 6, 1995. They were later divorced. Due to failing health, she moved to Ames and lived with her sister for a year. In September 2005, she moved back to Waterloo.

She enjoyed shopping, sports, NASCAR, sewing and crocheting and had a special place in her heart for her miniature poodles, Kiss-Kiss and Gidget.

She is survived by her father, Malvin Kuehne; her mother, Edith Luders of Waterloo; two sons: Virgil and Terry Pyle, both of Waterloo; one brother, Arthur (Lisa) Rippy of Longwood, Fla.; one sister, Judy (Randy) Covey of Ames; her nieces, nephews and their families: Ambrit, Debbie and Arthur Rippy Jr; Don and Ann Snyder and Shelby and Travis; Denny and Chrissy Snyder and Sydney and Randy.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, Vergal Luders.
